When you decide to let Nesta’s Wellness Retreat centre post-surgical care handle your recovery after a surgery, you may begin to wonder, What are the process involved in recovering from surgery?
Understanding this process is important because it gives you knowledge of how long it will take to recover and the progress made during your recovery process.

Being in the right state of mind during postoperative care is very essential towards a fast and smooth recovery process. This is why it is pertinent for clients to know there are some changes that will be happening in their bodies which are normal for their recovery process.

Healing from Surgery.

No matter the type of surgery you undergo, the healing process consists of about 3 stages, which are :- Acute or Inflammatory Stage, Sub-Acute or Propiferative Stage and Chronic or Remodelling Stage.
We will now take a high-in depth look at the phases of healing.

1.Acute or Inflammatory Phase :-This is the first phase of recovery from surgery. It is also the body’s natural response to injury. After the surgery is done, the blood vessels in the surgical scar or wound contract and a clot is formed. After bleeding has stopped, the blood vessels dilate to allow important cells like growth factors, antibodies, white blood cells, nutrients and enzymes to reach the wounded area. The major characteristics that can be seen in this phase are pain, heat, erythema or redness and loss of function.

Owing to the importance of the first phase of recovery from this phase, it is advisable to employ the services of an after-surgery recovery centre in Houston, which is the Nesta’s Wellness Retreat.

At Nesta Wellness Retreat, our ultimate goal and priority is your wellbeing and quick recovery from your surgery. In our centre, your body will feel relaxed and allowed to repair itself from the invasiveness of the surgery.

With the utmost care and respect, we know what your body wants and provide the necessary guidance about relieving pain and restoring movement.

2.Sub-Acute Or Proliferative Phase:- Having talked about inflammation as the first phase, this is the second phase. In the proliferative phase, it consists of the process involved in the rebuilding of dead tissue through formation of new granulation tissue which is composed of collagen and extracellular matrix.

An important part of this stage is a process called ‘Angiogenesis’, which is the development of new networks of blood vessels into the new tissue. At this stage, the colour and the condition of the granulation tissue is used as an indicator of how the wound is healing. A healthy granulation tissue is uneven in texture and granular, it won’t bleed easily and pink in colour.

At this stage of healing, the body begins to feel better and some patients may feel they can now return to their day to day activities. At Nesta’s Wellness Retreat, we have competent professionals who will assess the extent of your recovery and activities that can lead to re-injury or delay the healing process as the body is still fragile.

By close observation of your ability to move, our staff will assess the obstruction to the normal range of movement and encourage recovery through gentle exercises and manipulations.

3.Chronic Or Remodelling Phase :-

This is the last phase of the healing process during which the formed granulation tissues mature into a scar and an increase in the tissue tensile strength. The timeframe for remodelling can be up to a year. At this stage, you won’t feel too much pain again except when it occurs during physical exertion or performing strenuous activities.

Following instructions for physical therapy, special diet and wound care may be difficult to achieve. This is why you should recover from your surgery at Nesta’s Wellness Centre, where professionals help you along your healing journey.

At our after-surgery recovery centre, Houston, we offer postoperative care expertise combined with an unrelenting commitment to comfort, dignity and guest satisfaction, making it one of the best choices for post-surgical care.
